Headed For Latin America...Again

Time to brush up on my Spanish. I just got confirmation of a consulting assignment in which I will travel to Central America next April and speak in Guatemala City, Guatemala; SanSalvador, El Salavador; Tegucigalpa, Honduras; San Jose, Costa Rica and Managua, Nicaragua to business groups about marketing products in the U.S. and the general competitive climate they will encounter. A Texas attorney with practise experience in Latin America and a former official with the UN Development Program and ties to the Inter-American Development Bank have formed a consulting firm to work with Latin American businesses seeking to do business in the U.S.

Now this should be interesting...and add more diversity to my very diverse resume...Will keep everyone posted.

Quote of the Day

<>“The difference between the almost right word and the right word is the difference between the lightning bug and lightning.” Mark Twain

Girls: Valentines Day Ruminations

Like most boys growing up, I found girls to be a great mystery. Although I had a sister, she was 10 years younger than I was and was cute and got lots of attention and I loved her of course, but the whole situation only made the gender more intimidating. Girls would smile at me when I passed them as a freshman in high school, and I was speechless. My mind spun. My face flushed. Soon, I was to find it was only the beginning...Now, with 30+ years living with, of all things...a girl; and having four more--and their friends-- hang out with us for 18 to 20 years each; and doting on another four newbies (whom I worship, by the way) I've made precious little progress. Still captivated by their charm, I find myself feeling somehow inferior in their company. All that beauty and sweetness swirling around me makes me feel a little like an Ent (tree) in Lord of the Rings...rather too large, a little mossy and somewhat out-of-touch...But, as I think about it, I wouldn't want it any other way. They are all so fresh, and interesting and sometimes unpredicatable. (I wrote illogical first, but crossed it out...I've learned a few things.) It's like...well, living with magical beings, with Faries or Sprites. (Britten is cheering) You know, I'm rather lucky. Think how dull things would have been with only guys around...but...there is still a toy gun in the corner of my office...just in case...

Wow. Look what I started!

Things are never dull in this family. I thought I was making a cool statement and, thanks to Jessica, we became "Family Borg" . With the power of blogging to allow us to interact together we kind of are "becoming the collective" in a good and positive way. I think I like this. Your mom has always fostered communication in our family...(sometimes I've felt too much so when it involved my faults and areas that needed refinement , but I'm a better person for it) This makes me kind of excited to see where this will go. But, despite the free-wheeling nature of the Internet, I may have to lay down some blogging rules ....just don't let me see my face on Pee Wee Herman some morning....oh,oh...that was a mistake... well onward ye denisions of the great blogosphere..." Cry 'Havoc!' and let slip the dogs of blog" Shakespeare: Julius Cesaer with alteration

The old-timer

Now that all my family members are blogging, I suppose I should too. I would like to point out however that I have had a blog site since Fall of last year. Since I didn't know anyone else with one, I was just waiting for a message....like from aliens, perhaps, that had chosen me to be their intermediary with the rest of the inhabitants of planet Earth. But now, I can....oops, wait a minute, hold the phone....there is an incoming signal...I think it is Borg....Heeeeeelp Meeeeeeeeee....i'm being assimilated. Greetings...we are borg. You will be assimilated...resistance is futile
